Vado's new album Slime Flu dropped today
I was really looking forward to the debut album from Vado, but found myself a little disappointed on the first listen. There were some omissions from his mixtape tracks that unfortunately due to sample clearance issues couldnt be included that I think would have really strengthened the album. In the end, the biggest problem with the album is the production, as Cam'ron and his whole camp appear to still be under the idea of using ingrown production instead of going after the big guns. I have this problem with a lot of the newer rappers in which I love to hear them flow on a mixtape track over some beat that Jay-Z paid someone a million dollars for, but then when they go to do their own album they're going over $200 tracks.
I'm not saying there's not good production coming from this camp, but I just dont think they're at the level of some of the more well known producers. And then arguably the best producer from the camp araabMuzik doesnt even have any tracks on this?
Anyway, it sounds like I'm bashing the album but I'm not, I just expected more. I've only given it one solid listen though, I'll update if I find myself loving it in the next few weeks.
Here is what I think is the best track
Here's his best track period so far, that does NOT appear on the album. I love the end when he breaks down the vocabulary. Very reminiscent of Big L's Ebonics IMO
Overall I'd say it's worth a download, amazon has the MP3s for only 6 or 7 bucks if you're not into illegal shit.
